This precision turned pilot is made of heat treated 4140 (chrome moly) and finished in black oxide. It is designed to guide your Annular cutter into the right location to keep the barrel diameter concentric with the rifled barrel hole.
The cutter should be ran at slow RPMs (around 200), lubricated constantly, and a pilot used to keep it centered on the barrel properly.

This product is good enough for cutting threads for a small compensator. Wouldn't use it for anything longer than 2-3" without checking with a caliber specific alignment rod.

Excellent Tools
The pilot had a perfect fit in the barrel bore and cutter center. Perfect alignment on the threads.
