This precision turned pilot is made of heat treated 4140 (chrome moly) and finished in black oxide. It is designed to guide your Annular cutter into the right location to keep the barrel diameter concentric with the rifled barrel hole.
The cutter should be ran at slow RPMs (around 200), lubricated constantly, and a pilot used to keep it centered on the barrel properly.

POOR TOLERANCES
DO NOT USE! Ruined the barrel on my Rem 700 Long range 7mm PRC. The bore tolerance was WAY too loose. I took my time still crooked because the guides would wobble in the bore. Needs a serious redesign. I have been working on guns for almost two decades, was a certified machinist. Sold my lathe a few years ago and decided to do it buy hand. Set your jam nut so it can spin freely and use plenty of lubricant. Zero marks in the rifling and it works great. Thank you
