This precision turned pilot is made of heat treated 4140 (chrome moly) and finished in black oxide. It is designed to guide your Annular cutter into the right location to keep the barrel diameter concentric with the rifled barrel hole.
The cutter should be ran at slow RPMs (around 200), lubricated constantly, and a pilot used to keep it centered on the barrel properly.

it worked as expected. I do wish that it was a bit longer as to better facilitate being centered but it worked.

Threading 5.56 barrel for flash suppressor
The pilot was an amazing aid in lining up the cutter for cutting the barrel to the proper diameter.I was quoted over $200 to have this done at a local gun shop. I saved myself some money and have a good tool if i ever need it in the future.Overall, I highly recommend these to any DIYer gunsmith
